The Nurturing Programme (Parenting Puzzle) at Dovers Green Children's Centre

Parenting Puzzle
A ten week course for parents and carers of children of any age. Starting on 8th January 2018, 7.30-9.30pm, with a break at half term on 12th February.
We all want family life to be happy and loving, but sometimes things can get in the way. It can be hard to see a way to get back on track and re-discover the fun and comfort of family life. The Nurturing Programme can help. Call us to book a place. Numbers are limited to about 12 and the course costs £20 which includes the Parenting Puzzle course handbook.  
Play & Learn  9.30am - 11.00am  every week. The last session this term is on 12th December. Sessions will start again on 9th January 2018
(If you live in our allocated postcode area you may book your place from 9.00 - 9.30am. If you have booked but not arrived by 9.45am we may give your place away to anybody waiting. Stay and PlayDrop in to our friendly, interactive play session for under 5’s. Includes refreshments, messy play, circle time and lots of other fun activities, both indoors and outdoors, for you to share with your children! We are not able to admit children over 5 years old, including during the holidays.
We ask for a donation of £1 per family. Please note that numbers are limited and you are responsible for your own children at all times here.
Baby Massage
1.30 - 2.30pm 
Join one of our four week courses, teaching you all you need to know about baby massage. Great for relaxation, bonding and communication. You will need to bring along a large towel to each session. We recommend that your baby is around 10 - 12 weeks old and not yet crawling. To book you and your baby a place, call the centre. Next courses start on 16th January and 6th March 2018.
A contribution is requested of £10 for the whole course. 
Includes refreshments. 
Baby Cafe  In term time.10am-12noon. (Phone to check school holiday open times.) 
The last session before Christmas is 20th December. The new term starts on 10th January 2018.
 This drop in session offers breastfeeding support and is held here at Dovers Green Children's Centre.  Tel: 01737 223621. You are welcome to drop in at any time during opening hours. You may bring your partner too. There is comfortable seating and play areas for accompanying toddlers. It is relaxed and informal and there are specially trained staff who will give one-to-one help.

'Chatter Matters'
9.30-10.30pm (Bookable course)
A 5 week course starting on February 22nd 2018 encouraging  your child to develop their communication skills in a small group, through play, stories and songs.

Baby Signing (With Love & Cuddles)
11.00 - 11.30am
A five week course teaching you and your baby the best and easiest way to communicate with each other. A fun session of songs and signs, plus your own CD, so that you can  practise at home. Suitable for babies from about 6 months old. A contribution is requested of £10 for the course.

Baby Basics
A two hour session teaching you all you need to know to prepare for the arrival of your new baby! Includes bathing, nappies, feeding and sleep. The session is a must for first time parents who want to be prepared.

 Welcome to the World
No course dates at the moment
This is an 8 week group for parents expecting their first baby. Your expected date of delivery should be after ...... Partners are welcome to come too.We cover everything from pregnancy to labour and bringing baby home. Topics include managing stress, promoting self-esteem and confidence, infant brain development, feeding, healthy choices, effective communication and empathy. One of our midwives will talk about labour and birth.
Sessions are informal and perfect for learning more and asking questions before your baby arrives.
We ask for a donation of £20 for the course and this includes refreshments, all course materials and a handbook to keep.
Dovers Green School Coffee Morning 
8.45am-9.45am (term time only)
A chance for Dovers Green School mums to get together for a chat over a cup of coffee, while the little ones play in the centre. Information and advice is always available from our staff.

Jingle Bugs

Two music and singing sessions. Term time only. Last session this term is on 15th December. Sessions start again on 12th January 2018.
£2.50 per child 
  • 10am-10.40am - for children 18 months to 3 years
  • 10.50am-11.30am - for babies under 18 months
 Ante-Natal Breast Feeding Session

Next course: 2nd February 2018  12.30-2.30pm

A session for expectant mothers, giving all the information needed to prepare for feeding your baby. Our local National Childbirth Trust Breastfeeding Counsellor will give handy tips and advice to ensure your success and a happy baby! Please phone to book a place.



Paediatric First Aid                 
10.00 a.m. - 12 p.m.                                     
A two hour first aid course for parents run by St John Ambulance. A donation of £5 per person is requested. Saturday January 20th and 17th March 2018 10am-12pm

Parentcraft Ante-Natal Session
Run by our local Community Midwife Team. Contact your midwife to book you and your partner a place.
Next date: 16th December 2017

We do ask some of our groups for a small financial contribution, which helps towards the cost of refreshments, snacks and craft activities. All Sure Start services are free for families on Income Support, Job Seekers Allowance or Disability Living Allowance. Please advise us when booking or using the Centre.

Families can choose to attend any local Children's Centre. However, during our very busy drop in activities, we give admission priority to families living in our designated postcode area. Families living outside our area will be allocated spaces on a first come first served basis.

Childminders and professional home based carers will not be permitted to attend any activities unless they have at least one of their own children in attendance and live in our postcode area.

Please note - Parents and carers are responsible for and must supervise their children at all times whilst in the centre, or while participating in any Children's Centre activity.
